Cancer rehab – Living well with cancer… and beyond!

I’m here to support you from diagnosis, through treatment and into recovery.

Cancer treatment is getting better! Survival and recovery rates are always improving, but even now, treatment can still be very difficult, both mentally and physically. Treatments usually come with side effects, some of which can last a lifetime if they are left untreated.

I have seen the effects of these issues first hand, and the struggles that people endure even when treatment is finished.

So I’m here to help as many people as possible to reduce the impact of cancer treatment.

It has been proven that following an effective cancer rehabilitation program can reduce the physical, mental and emotional effects of cancer treatment and can make a massive difference to your recovery time and quality of life.

Generally, when you start a cancer rehab program it means I am able to support you, step-by-step to:

  • Reduce or minimise cancer related fatigue (CRF).
  • Maintain or improve mobility following treatment or surgery.
  • Maintain or improve your physical strength, endurance and fitness.
  • Manage your weight.
  • Help you to improve or minimise depression, stress, anxiety and other emotional issues.
  • Reduce pain.
  • Improve your overall quality of life and your ability to take care of yourself day-to-day.
  • Increase your confidence and self esteem.

There are, of course, other benefits too, like being able to connect, support and interact with others who are (or have been) in a similar situation to yours and who can understand what you’re going through.

* a very important note…

Starting an intense diet and exercise regime is absolutely not what you need right now, so let me assure you, that’s definitely NOT what this is.

Cancer rehab is a positive experience. It’s all about you. It’s designed, created and updated just for you. It’s about feeling better, or at least feeling as good as you possibly can through treatment and beyond. It’s about reducing the constant tiredness, feeling less pain, maintaining and improving your ability to move properly and to look after yourself. It’s about lifting the brain fog and preventing isolation, depression, anxiety and stress. It’s about a better quality of life.

You can eat whatever you want, especially after chemo, when sometimes it’s a struggle to eat anything at all. Yes, there are foods you may want to add to help you to feel better, just as there are foods you’ll want to enjoy less often, but no one will ever judge you for having the things you enjoy.

You’ll enjoy moving more because when you exercise you’ll be doing something beneficial and something that you enjoy. You’ll only ever do as much as you can comfortably manage on the day so you’ll feel happier and more energised afterwards. After all, you’ll need as much energy as you can muster for your treatment.

You’ll have support, advice and understanding from a professional who really cares.

Really, all of this information is just to assure you that this is definitely NOT a normal exercise program, it’s very different. If you have any questions or if you would like to know more please get in touch. I’d love to hear from you.
